Are a New Generation of Weight Loss Drugs Inducing Reckless Decision-Making?
We’re working with Professor Raymond Playford, Professor of Molecular Medicine at the University of West London, who co-authored a commentary published in the respected Quarterly Journal of Medicine. The research urges doctors to warn patients about a previously unrecognised potential risk of prescribing ‘semaglutide’ weight loss drugs (like Ozempic or Wegovy) that may cause out-of-character behaviours. Playford recommends that further research should be conducted to explore this risk and in the interim, patients should be cautioned about making life-changing decisions, such as divorce or moving house.
